Hamus Nature Preserve & Recreational Area A Great Escape from Everyday Life
Escaping from the daily hubbub is as easy as visiting Hamus Nature Preserve & Recreational Area.
In 2004, Marshfield Utilities purchased 32 acres of land north of Wilderness View Drive, and designated that 27.5 of the acres would remain as wetlands. The preserve was the vision of community leader Floyd Hamus. The land was initially purchased to protect the city’s wellhead, but there are now hiking/walking/biking trails that allow outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the scenic property and its accompanying wildlife. In 2005, three small ponds were constructed on the preserve to further enhance the acreage.
